Our planning application was due to be discussed at the Planning and Regulatory Committee on Wednesday 17th January 2018. It was with great disappointment that we have received an email from Herefordshire Planning Department saying that they would be recommending refusal of our application at that meeting. For this reason we have decided to withdraw our application.

Although there are obviously those who did not support this project from the outset, we have received a majority of fantastic support from across the three villages of Cradley, Storridge and Mathon.

Our aim was always to create a long-term community nucleus in the centre of the village. We are hopeful that in the future a project with similar positive aims could succeed.

Thank you enormously to everyone who has lent their expertise and enthusiasm. One day, we hope that our community will be able to call on you, if and when the time is right.

On the evening of Tuesday 8th August, Cradley Parish Council discussed the revised plans for the Heart of the Village project. Thank you to everyone who attended the meeting to give their support and represent the views of many in our area. Sarah read out a statement to the council from the HOV team that included a brief overview of our plan's changes. Unfortunately, a large majority of councillors voted to retain their opposition to the project.

The consultation on the Heart of the Village project will close on August 31, 2017 and will then go before Herefordshire Council’s Planning Committee for a final decision. There is still time to submit comments on the plans. Visit Hereford Council's website to look at our plans in detail and to have your say.

We have finally managed to get all our updates in for planning. We updated our wildlife survey on Morgans field and we were very excited to have found evidence of otter passing through. We found no water vole and all the Crayfish are the invasive American Crayfish, not our native Crayfish.

Finding signs of otter meant we had to make some extra plans to improve the habitat for otter, which include a wild life corridor along the brook bank, building an artificial otter holt and a hide to view the otter from. We have also made plans for other habitat enhancing features.

We have had long delays from Herefordshire Council highways department and it took until just before Christmas to get any reply from them. Eventually, they have suggested we need a pavement along the road, so we plan to translocate a portion of hedge a small way into the field to allow for this.

The consultation period for our application is up to 31.8.2017, so if you haven't commented already, then do please support us. Here's a link to our application on Hereford Council's website - http://bit.ly/2sSbWcP

Our planning application is still with Hereford. We are waiting for input from the Highways Department before we finalise the revisions to our application. We have been asked about the status of our loan stock and community share offers. A community share offer will be launched when planning is satisfactorily resolved and there will be plenty of opportunity for everyone to buy shares then. At the moment, all the funding for the project has been through donations to the society from our team and a £2000 grant from the Plunkett Foundation.

Happy New Year to all our supporters.
